Description

You take several photos of that scene, hoping to have the ONE. Find the best pick of a series or burst and clean up your library.

We end up with hundreds or even thousands of nearly duplicate photos, where having a small subset of those would be so much better. Better for you, and better for the size of your photo library.

Photoscope does 3 things for you:

1. Surface your photo series and bursts in a familiar interface.

2. Guide you through the quickest process possible to find a single pick for a series.

3. Let you then share or favorite that pick, and let you delete all the discarded photos from that series.

Sit back and go down memory lane. And come back with your favorite memories and more storage!

What’s New

Version 1.3

Photoscope is now also available on iPad! The larger screen is perfect for picking favorites.

In addition, the central pick view has been reworked and enhanced in version 1.3:

• The Promote and Discard buttons are bigger and have changed order.

• There is an optional third Skip button that can be enabled in Settings. Skipped photos will not be marked for deletion. Use it to skip photos that don’t match the series, or to keep multiple photos of one subject.

• There’s a new indicator on the bottom of the Candidate photo showing the progress of the picking process.

• There’s a context menu on both photos. Using the context menu, you can also skip the initial pick.

• On iPhone and iPad, a double-tap on a photo toggles zoom. On Vision Pro, a double-tap picks the tapped photo.

• There’s a new setting to adjust the thumbnail size in the grid view.

Helpful - feature request

This is a helpful utility to compare photos. Thanks for creating it! One feature request would be an option to keep more than one photo in the series. I have run into a few situations where the photos are different enough that I want to keep more than one. Also if there was a way to ignore or mark series as reviewed, that would clear the screen and make sorting through new photos that come in easier.

Love the idea, but…

In principle, this app brings back a functionality of the wonderful Aperture app that allowed you to compare similar photos and intelligently select which one to keep from a batch. Unfortunately, as it is currently implemented, it really does not match my needs for this process. The current workflow is just to move from one picture to the next and select when you find one you think you like more. But for this functionality to be useful, I really need to be able to go back-and-forth and compare any two arbitrary pictures to one another rather than just flick through everything once and be done. Also, the idea of keeping just one out of the set isn’t very helpful. I think if this used the film strip more interactively and allowed you to select pics and comparisons directly from it, then it might start to be really useful. Also, I think it very much needs to have a built-in assumption that you may choose to keep any number of pictures from the sequence, not just one

Fantastic app for photo culling

I use a mirrorless camera and will sometimes take a *few* too many photos at the same time, often trying to capture just the right shot. I’ve looked all over for an app that directly integrates with my Photos Library and allows me to pick the best photo(s) from a bunch. This app does the job really well, and I am excited to see how the app gets even better with further development. Mac and iPad apps would be amazing; I hope they are on the road map!
